2019 Budgets for Certain Provincial and Territorial Governments

The governments of Ontario (April 11), Nova Scotia (March 26), Saskatchewan (March 20), New Brunswick (March 19), Manitoba (March 7), Yukon (March 7), Nunavut (February 20), British Columbia (February 19) and the Northwest Territories (February 6) recently tabled their budget. Here are the impacts that these budgets will have on payroll.

Ontario (April 11)

The Finance Minister tabled a budget that will have a few impacts on payroll production.

The government has announced the following measures:

  • Implementation of a committee aiming to reduce the paperwork burden for Ontario businesses.
  • Implementation of a Childcare Access and Relief from Expenses Tax Credit.

Manitoba (March 7)

The government announced an increase in the basic personal amount from $9,626 to $9,809 starting in 2020.

The Manitoba retails sales tax will be reduced from 8% to 7% effective July 1, 2019.
